It's Book Fair Time!

We will be hosting our Wild West Book Fair on October 6-11! The book fair will be open for business before school on the 6th, 9th,and 10th. It will also be open all day during conferences on the 11th. Stop by and support the library by shopping for some great books! If you would like to volunteer to help out, click https://goo.gl/tDBxE4.

We will be having 2 contests this year for the book fair. Contests will start the week of October 2nd. The first contest is a guessing contest. Winners who guess the closest to the number of items in the jar will win a poster at the conclusion of the book fair. We will also have a pencil contest. Donate a dollar to OneForBooks, and you get to select a pencil out of the tree. If you select the sharpened pencil, you win a gift certificate to the book fair. All students get to keep their pencils. (OneForBooks is a Scholastic Program that donates books and money to charities listed on the donation box)

We could really use some parent volunteers to help in the library.  You can train on the job, so no experience is required!  Sign up is being done through a SignUp Genius website.  Please sign up online using the website listed or contact Mrs. Koch at akoch@shslou.org.

Book Buddies

Our level 4 and 5 students have been reading to the 3 year olds at Sacred Heart Preschool this year. We will continue this activity throughout the year to allow SHMS students to be leaders and mentors to the younger students and to practice oral fluency while reading.

Debbie Diesen Author Visit

Our Level K-3 students got the chance to hear Debbie Diesen read two of her Pout Pout Fish books and talk about how she became a writer!
